Apache ActiveMQ: Unchecked buffer length can cause excessive memory allocation

Memory Allocation with Excessive Size Value vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ. During unmarshalling of OpenWire commands the size value of buffers was not properly validated which could lead to excessive memory allocation and be exploited to cause a denial of service (DoS) by depleting process memory, thereby affecting applications and services that rely on the availability of the ActiveMQ broker when not using mutual TLS connections. Apache ActiveMQ is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution

Apache ActiveMQ is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker with network access to a broker to run arbitrary shell commands by manipulating serialized class types in the OpenWire protocol to cause the broker to instantiate any class on the classpath. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.15.16, 5.16.7, 5.17.6, or 5.18.3, which fixes this issue.

Improper Authentication

The LDAPLoginModule implementation in the Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) in Apache ActiveMQ 5.x before 5.10.1 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication by logging in with an empty password and valid username, which triggers an unauthenticated bind. NOTE: this identifier has been SPLIT per ADT2 due to different vulnerability types. See CVE-2015-6524 for the use of wildcard operators in usernames.
